Rooppur Nuclear Plant Fuel Loading Begins, Bangladesh Enters Nuclear Power Era
Bangladesh’s first nuclear plant at Rooppur began loading fuel on April 28, 2026. The two Russian-built VVER-1200 reactors (2×1,200 MW) are now undergoing start-up tests. Officials say Unit 1 will supply power to the grid by mid-2026, with full capacity by Jan 2027. The IAEA and national regulators have cleared safety milestones.
